The historic rivalry between the widely ‘mass-media loved’ Selangor and the ‘less media covered’ Sarawak tomorrow, is set to be a tricky encounter for both the visiting and home team.
Sarawak is unpredictable at the moment, and their two new signings may just give them an added advantage, although record shows that the Crocs have a very poor record against The Red Giants.
According to statistics, both teams are inseparable at the momment with Selangor sitting just above Sarawak thanks to their recent victory against Kelantan over the weekend.
Paolo Rangel whom has had a poor scoring record against Sarawak, is the Red Giant’s top scorer with nine goals, as the defences of the visiting team has leaked nine goals despite being guarded by national goalkeeper Mohd Farizal Marlias.
Star-studded Selangor however is expected to retain their experienced line-up against Kelantan for this Sarawak game with Malaysian football household names such as Bunyamin Umar, S Kunanlan, K Gurusamy helping Steve Pantelidis at defence.
The midfiled might also see Mehmet Durakovic opting to retain Indonesian Andik Vermansyah over Junior Aparecedo, in which he hopes would be able to help Thamil Arasu and Paolo get the goals up-front.
The inclusion of Andik would mean that Mehmet would prefer fast flankers to help his strikers, although he would be very wary of Sarawak’s home record which has been almost flawless since 2013.
Pundits alike have gave massive praise over the Crocs’ ability to defend, with the same pundits concluding that the Crocs are very poor up-front.
Nonetheless, the April transfer window has enabled the Crocs to reinforce themselves by signinig two quality strikers in Ryan Griffith and Hassan Momahhad, whom are believed to be the answer to this problem, although sources close to Ryan admit that the Autralian stiker might not play a full game due to his just recovered ankle injury.
Robert Alberts is also highly expected to tinker with his tactics with nippy Dzulazlan Ibrahim probably making his first start of the season this Tuesday, replacing Mafry Balang whom wasn’t up to the task last weekend.
Both the Crocs and the Red Giants are relishing the prospect of winning this match, but we believe the fury home crowd at Stadium Negeri, coupled with the brilliance of Robert in curbing Paolo would be the deciding factor for the winner of this game.
