[MSL] Sarawak 0-2 Selangor: Crocs humbled by Red Giants at home

Sarawak looked less of themselves last night after the Crocs fell hard to rival Selangor at their fortress Stadium Negeri.

Playing in front of a capacity crowd, the Crocs showcased two of their latest additions in Ryan Griffith and Hassan Mohammad, as the crowd greeted the duo with frantic roars of approval.

The start of the game proved energetic with Sarawak pressing the attacking pedal from the start.

Ryan, eager to show his worth, got the ball through the middle and was brought down for a free kick before he was able to make a shot on goal which could make his debut for his new team meaningful.

The free kick which followed brought nothing to shout about as the Crocs found themselves racing to their defense line with Selangor using Andik Vermansyah to do an immediate counter attack.

Similar results came with the Crocs ill passing the ball, and Selangor using each intercepted pass to launch an immediate counter attack which made the likes of Gabor Gyepes, Ramesh Lai and Ronny Harun as busy as a bee for the night.

The dynamic counter attacks by Selangor finally made the visiting side cheer the loudest. Andik cleverly stole the ball of Mafry Balang and smartly lob it over out of positioned Sani Anuar, putting his side one goal up.

Sarawak tried to fight back, but their best chance through a free header by Gabor Gyepes, thanks to a beautiful cross in the box was saved to keep the score 1-0 for the Red Giants.

The second half saw the same script as Selangor broke the Crocs down by using fast counter attacks after intercepting almost every pass the Crocs tried to make.

Ryan almost leveled the score for his home team, but his header was saved again by Farizal Marlias.

In the 52nd minute, the usually noisy Stadium Negeri fell silent as national striker Thamil Arasu snatched a blunder of Ronny Harun, to blast in Selangor’s second goal of the night.

The Crocs tried to narrow the gap, but a good dribble from S Chanturu went out for a fruless corner, while Akmal Rizal, Ashri Chuchu and Rashid Aya’s inclusion failed to produce any favourable results.

With the clock ticking closer, Selangor dominated play, before the referee ended Sarawak’s agony by blowing the full whistle to signal that the Crocs have been humbled by the mighty Red Giants at Stadium Negeri.

FINAL SCORE: Sarawak 0-2 Selangor
