The good run in the league continues for Super League team Sarawak FA whom defeated the team labeled as ‘the giant killer’ at Selayang Stadium yesterday with set pieces yet again providing Sarawak with the winning goals.
PKNS FC which had defeated famous teams like JDT, Kelantan and ATM had their goal leaked as early as the 9th minute when a long throw by Ronny Harun was easily flicked in by Milorad Janjus to put the visiting Sarawak ahead.
Just as the home side tried to collect themselves from the leak, Ronny’s long throw struck again, with strong defender Gabor Gyepes heading it into the back of the net to put Sarawak further ahead in the game with 2-0.
Sarawak pressed for their third goal, but it was PKNS whom found their rhythm in the game and started dominating the midfield, and slowly the game.
Nazmi Faiz’s corner almost gave PKNS a comeback goal as the game went further into the first half, but unmarked Ally Imran wasted the chance.
When the game restarted at the second half, the Crocs managed to squeeze in a goal, but the shot by Jpseph was disqualified due to an offside.
From then on, Nazmi Faiz and Hamka Hamzah started pulling the strings in midfield leaving Sarawak hopeless in their effort to dictate the game pace.
This saw the Crocs camping heavily at their own side of the pitch with counter attacks the only option for an attack.
As the game drew closer to the final whistle, the strikers of PKNS pressed as much as they could for goals with Patrick Ronaldinho and Karlo Primorac menacing Sarawak’s defences with everything they had.
Nonetheless, their efforts were futile as the referee blew the final whistle to officially hand Sarawak their third win of the season, and putting the Borneo side on top of the Malaysian Super League for the day.
FINAL RESULT: PKNS FC 0-2 SARAWAK FA
