[MSL] Perak 4-1 Sarawak: Frustrating defeat for the Crocs

Sarawak blew their best chance to be one step closer to retain their spot in the Super League next season when they were trashed 4-1 by Perak FA.

Perak weren’t in their best element, but the Crocs themselves were far from their usual self in the full 90 minutes with the Crocs playing without five of their regulars.

In fact, as early as the first five minutes, Perak had a priceless chance to go ahead in the game, but Sani Anuar’s blunder was not penalized by Perak.

The Crocs tried to fight back, but a poor effort by Ashri Chuchu went straight to the safe hands of Razi Effendi.

From then it was pathetic passing from the Crocs with Perak boasting the midfield and Sarawak loosing possesion way too easily.

Perak opened their scoring fiesta of the night when a miscommunication at the back saw Marco Tulio tap in an easy goal for the home side.

The home side almost doubled their lead moments later, but a shot by Milan Purović failed to beat the goal bar.

As the halftime whistle came, the Crocs looked clueless and unable to contain Perak strikers who was not only dominating possession, but also spearheading most attacks.

The second half started and the Crocs tried to create more chances for their forwards. Ryan Griffith in particular was tirelessly trying to create something, but his efforts were left fruitless with the rest of the Crocs under-performing.

Perak continued to pressure the visiting side, and Milan finally doubled the scoreline for his side by putting in a perfect curled shot which was out of Sani Anuar’s reach.

Mohd Norhakim made the Crocs sink deeper in defeat when his shot on goal was deflected off Hairol Mokhtar to hit the back of the net in the 58th minute.

Sarawak fought back and managed to reduce the deficit through a powerful grounder free kick by Ryan in the 62nd minute, hence putting the score at 3-1 for Perak.

Nonetheless, Ryan’s goal celebration didn’t last long as the home side ensured they had an impressive win over Sarawak through Marco, who drove in a free kick past the helpless Sani four minutes later.

Sarawak did try to find more goals as the full time whistle came closer, but Ryan’s best chance on goal was called off by the referee, with S Chanturu also guilty of holding the ball too long for nothing to show off.

The final whistle soon came, with Robert Alberts men walking into the dressing room with their heads down.
