Premier League side Melaka United has signed 28-year old Ilija Spasojevic. The fierce striker is the third import player to be signed by the side which is based in the state of Melaka.
Ilija who hails from Montenegro was signed after his impressive stint at Indonesian side Persib Bandung. The 1.87m tall player has been scouted by Melaka’s head coach Mat Zan Mat Aris, and won the ‘best player award’ during the recently concluded President Cup.
Ilija started his senior career in 2004 at the age of 17, playing for Vojvodina in Serbian SuperLiga before he moved to Montenegrin legendary club Sutjeska Nikšić.
Aside from playing in the Indonesian league, Ilija has played in Latvia, Serbia and Greece, and had also played in the UEFA Champions League.
His goal scoring habits of over 90 goals in his professional career signals a huge coup for the club.
