MAKSAK Sarawak emerged champions of the MAKSAK Games football competition 2024 today after they defeated MAKSAK Johor in Stadium Bandar Raya, Batu Kawan, Penang.
Paul Sambang scored a direct free kick in the 37th minute of play to give MAKSAK Sarawak the win in what was a tight encounter against MAKSAK Johor.
Throughout the match, both teams exchanged attack but failed to find the back of the net until the 37th minute.
The win meant MAKSAK Sarawak was crown champions of the MAKSAK Games Football 2024 for the first time since the games was held, directly creating history not only for the team, but also for the games.
In addition being crown champions, Zul bin Muhi of MAKSAK Sarawak also won the Golden Glove Award, with Paul anak Sambang taking home the Golden Boot Award with seven goals, and also the Golden Ball Award (Open).
MAKSAK Johor, despite their defeat, did not go home empty handed as they were awarded the Fair Play Award, with Mohd Saiful Nizam from the same team bringing home the Golden Ball Award (Veteran).
Third place of the tournament was won by Majlis Sukan ATM and MAKSAK Pulau Pinang with Majlis Sukan ATM also getting the Best Team Management Award.
