Johor football teams not joining LBR 16/2017

There would be 109 teams from all over Malaysia joining the 2017 Liga Bolasepak Rakyat (LBR), but none would be from Johor.

According to LBR President, Dato’ Dr Shamsul Anwar Sulaim, the Johor Football Association (PBNJ) has informed the Football Association of Malaysia (FAM) and the LBR committee that they would not be sending any teams to the competition as they competition dates clash with a competition organized and planned by PBNJ.

Aside from that, all LBR teams would be given two sets of jerseys this coming 2016/17 season, with an additional clause in the competition ensuring at least ten under 21 players are listed in each team.

Meanwhile, the new season of the LBR would start on 24 September with teams divided into several leagues based on locality, with the top teams of each league qualifying to the national LBR finals.

The participation of reigning LBR finalist, namely Kuching FA and Padang Besar FA,  also remains largely uncertain as the status of both teams in the semi-pro Liga FAM remains highly a question mark, but Batang Padang has listed its team in the LBR for the coming season.
