Johor Crown Prince give his backing to Syahrul Azwari

A strong word of support for Syahrul Azwari came from the Southern Tigers camp yesterday when the Crown Prince of Johor, also owner of the Johor Darul Ta’zim Football Club (JDT FC), HRH Brigadier General Tunku Ismail Ibni Sultan Ibrahim made a statement which supported Syahrul’s move to Sarawak.

In the statement, the Crown Prince, known popularly as TMJ stated that Syahrul should be given the right to choose which team he would like to represent.

The royal further added that the ruling given by the Football Association of Malaysia (FAM) over Syahrul was due to a ruling which is outdated and not relevant in today’s era of professional football, adding that state teams do not use their own fundings to develop these players anymore.

TMJ further added that he hoped FAM would “be consistent in making the right decisions, which will benefit all competing teams” as he continued to say that “Officials should not dictate which state the players should play for”

TMJ opined that “the upper management of FAM must focus on helping local football, and not burdening them”.

Syahrul’s case become sensational after FAM ruled that the Kelantan born striker must report to Kelantan Football Association (KAFA), cancelling his contract with Sarawak FA.
