Sabah rule in Stadium Negeri, defeats Sarawak 2-1

Sabah FA won the Borneo derby after defeating Sarawak FA 2-1 at Stadium Negeri.

Sarawak started the game with their imports, Muamer Salibasic and Rian Firmansyah on the substitute bench.

Sabah FA scored two goals in five minutes to put themselves leading in the Borneo Derby which is played at Stadium Negeri.

Sabah score in the 36th minute with import player Rodoljub Paunović finishing off a wonderful pass from Park Tae-soo to defeat Sarawak goalkeeper Andy Nicholas Nipen.

Two minutes later, former Sarawak player, Sabri Sahar converted for his new team through a wonderful solo effort to make it two for Sabah.

After the breather, Sarawak launched dangerous attacks on the Sabah half, but failed to find the back of the net.

Shreen Tambi almost scored but his shot on goal was pushed out by Sabah goalkeeper Rozaimie Rohim.

With the clock showing the 89th minute, Pedro Henrique scored Sarawak’s consolation goal of the day before the referee called the game to an end for Sabah to be declared King of Malaysian Borneo football for the day.
