Fans of Sarawak FA are assured a bitter memory of last years FA Cup when the Crocs were knocked out of the competition in the first leg despite a gallant display against powerhouse Kelantan.
This year, the Crocs went down yet again to Kelantan in the same competition, but as it was a quarter finals, the Crocs now stand a second chance to redeem themselves when they meet The Rew Warriors (TRW) at the State Stadium tomorrow.
Kelantan needs a mere draw to advance to the Semis, and the Crocs need a win. Other results do not matter as the Crocs would be out of possibilities to repeat their glorious 1992 win in the FA Cup.
The odds are however clearly stacked against the Crocs despite Joseph Kallang’s away goal from the 2-1 defeat in Kota Bharu. TRW are known to be strong regardless of where they play, and their players which are led by national goalkeeper Khairul Fahmi Che Mat are household names in the Malaysian football arena.
To boost the Crocs, head coach Robert Alberts has secured Zamri Morshidi and Junior Eldstal right before the match, but news has spread that Eldstal may not feature in the team just yet.
Nonetheless, the likes of Bobby Gonzalez, and Ivan Babic would definitely provide TRW a good run for their money as they spearhead Sarawak’s eager attack to find that winning goal. In the middle, Joseph and Guy Bwele is expected to improve and further frustrate TRW from controlling the center pitch, while Sani Anuar will lead the defense with his confident goalkeeping.
The fans of the Crocs are definitely positive about the outcome of the game with many predicting Sarawak to overcome TRW, as they make a beeline for tickets to the game, which they regard at the game of the season.
