Golden Hornbill leaps to league pinnacle

Sarawak United didn’t have much of a problem to defeated youngsters Perak II in their 15th Liga Premier match tonight.

The favorites however had to work hard in the first few minutes of the game with Perak II drawing early blood in the first minute though Royyizat Daud.

Fomr then on, the team calling themselves Golden Hornbills made no mistake to ensure they secured the full three points of the night.

Sarawak United leveled the score through national striker Norshahrul Idlan Talaha in the 35th minute, before Perak II scored an own goal in the 53rd minute via Muhammad Syafiq Izzudin to give the Golden Hornbills an added advantage at home.

Top striker, Uche Agba then solidified Sarawak United’s position in the match with another goal in the 63rd minute.

Abdul Rahim nailed the final nail in Perak II’s coffin with the final goal of the night and Sarawak United retained the score in their favour to collect the full three points for the night.

The win meant that Sarawak United leaps to the top of the Liga Premier standings with 31 points and one game in hand.

Behind Sarawak United is Terengganu II and Negeri Sembilan, with both Negeri Sembilan and Sarawak United looking very strong for the promotion slot at the end of the season.

Only six out of the eleven teams in the Liga Premier are eligible for promotion this season and if the golden Hornbills continue their impressive run in the league, they would likely be in the Liga Super in 2022.
