Gary Steven suspended for three months

Most wanted midfielder Gary Steven Robbart has been suspended by the Football Association on Malaysia (FAM) following his actions to have agreed to join three clubs.

The clubs mentioned are his home state team Kedah FA, Pahang FA and cash rich JDT. With the decision, Gary is now considered club-less and all contracts he has agreed upon, including the ones with JDT and Pahang are considered void as they were signed before FAM released Gary from the national under 23 squad.

FAM further clarifies that Gary, after the suspension, would be a free-agent, meaning he could sign for any team he likes in the world without being tied to the initial ruling by FAM which requires the released under-23 players to return to their home state football teams.

It seems that Gary favours a move to JDT considering he has started training with them a few weeks ago but the decision to suspend Gary for a mere three month would definitely bring a smile to the Kedah born player as he would have options at his fingertips when his suspension ends, just in time for the April transfer window.

Meanwhile, the Kedah FA President, Datuk Seri Mukhriz Mahathir has expressed his disappointment over FAM’s ruling by saying that he wants Gary to return to Kedah as FAM has stipulated initially.

Mukhriz further says that he finds it weird that FAM is not abiding to their own rules, while adding that the decision by FAM was as if FAM does not recognize Kedah’s contribution towards Gary’s carrier in football.
