The Football Association of Sarawak (FAS) has issued a statement in regards to the controversial issue surrounding their latest signing Syahrul Azwari.
In the statement, FAS expressed their regrets over the the remarks made by Football Association of Malaysia (FAM) Vice President Datuk Takiyuddin which they felt was premature and prejudice against FAS. The FA added that the remarks were not proper.
FAS also said that they are surprised by the comment made by Takiyuddin, and that if any dispute were to arise from the issue, it should be made in accordance to the clear guidelines stated by FAM.
According to FAS, they would only take action in an appropriate time and further stressed that they believe both parties should appear and make representations before the status committee, with Syahrul himself also making his decision heard.
Syarul’s case came into the media spotlight when Kelantan FA President Datuk Annuar Musa claimed that Sarawak illegally signed the winger. Annuar’s claim was seconded by FAM’s Vice President, Takiyuddin who is also the Chairman of the Status Committee and the Deputy Chairman for the Legal and Regulations Committee at FAM. Aside from that, Takiyuddin also used to be KAFA’s deputy President from 1995-1997.
