The Football Association of Sarawak (FAS) has today confirmed the use of local Sarawakian players scouted fro local leagues.
According to a statement by FAS, the players would be sourced from the up-coming Piala Sarawak, Liga Bolasepak Rakyat (LBR) and other local tournaments.
FAS however reiterated that the move to go 100% local is subject to how the team performs at whatever competition they are playing in next season, with FAS admitting they would seek to obtain foreign players during the next transfer window if the team was struggling.
The statement also revealed that FAS deems the move to go all local as something they are forced to do.
FAS also said that recruitment of a foreign player is not compulsory for teams in the Liga FAM and the decision to field an all local side was made with suppirt from all exco.
