The Football Association of Malaysia (FAM) has decided to hold its next election on 25 March hence paving the way for a new president.
Aside from electing a new president, all FAM exco post would be also contested, allowing a complete overhaul of the football governing body in Malaysia. The post open for contest would be the president post, two deputy president, four vice presidents, 10 exco members and two women exco members.
Those interested to be bominated have until 23rd January 2017 to have themselves nominated.
Football fans in Malaysia have long asked for a change in FAM’s management, with claiming that Malaysian football has not progressed much since the nation qualified for the Olympics way back in the 80’s.
Among the prime candidate for the top post is the Crown Prince of Johor, Tunku Ismail Sultan Ibrahim, who also owns the Southern Tigers.
Nonetheless, despite the popularity of the man fondly known as TMJ among many, he has also expressed he is not suited to become the next FAM president given the fact he can never be fair since he owns one of the clubs competing in the Malaysian League.
