Malaysia kept its AFC Asian Cup qualification hopes alive after holding Bahrain 1-1 in a Group D qualifier at the Shah Alam Stadium today.
Bahrain stunned the home team just before the half-time whistle when right-back Saleh Abdulla curled a shot beyond the reach of goalkeeper Khairul Fahmi Che Mat from short corner-kick routine.
Norshahrul Idlan Talaha, however, snatched a point for Malaysia with an effort from outside the box in the 71st minute.
Bahrain top Group D with seven points from three matches, followed by Qatar (six), Malaysia (four) and Yemen (none).
Malaysia next travel to Manama for the return fixture against Bahrain on Nov 15.
