It is not a secret that Sarawak has brought along Yugoslavian born midfielder Robert Alviž on their pre-season tour to Selangor and Vietnam. The 31-year old Croatian has been said to be a free kick specialist and has played in Asia for the past few years.
The midfielder which last played with S-League side Tampines Rovers, is a common feature in the teams he has joined, having stints with clubs such as S-League side DPMM FC, Albanian Superloiga side Flamurtari Vlorë, and KS Kastrioti and Cypriot First Division side Anagennisi Dherynia.
Checks online reveal that the midfielder does not have any major injury problems although Indonesian side Persebaya Surabaya is claiming that they have brought a case of the midfielder to FIFA after they felt cheated by Alviz promising to be signed for Tampines despite already receiving signing fees from Persebaya.
Alviz has so far shined in his first pre-season friendly game with the Crocs, scoring one goal against PKNS through a beautiful free kick.
However, the midfielder still has a lot to proof as he was deemed as ‘average’ by our team in West Malaysia who was at the game.
Alviz is expected to compete with another midfielder who is currently also on trial with Sarawak, Joseba Garmendia.
