ViP: Let’s ‘Encang sampei champion first’, then speculate about Alberts departure

The rumors are strong, and from where we are standing at Sarawak Crocs it began on Facebook, or at least that’s where it was picked up and made viral.

The rumor states that “Robert Alberts will leave Sarawak to replace K. Rajagopal as Harimau Malaya head coach”.

Today, in a local daily, Robert (Standing in blue in the image above) denied the rumors, but said that if given the opportunity, he’d be honored.

But that’s not what we want to point out here.

We know for a fact that Rajagopal is in hot soup, and his position is unsafe, but we find the rumor a little too bit mischievous especially since it comes from our own Sarawak fans.

The news didn’t really make much impact when posted for the first time, but the next 5-0 defeat of our national team to Tokyo Verdy made the rumors viral when posted the second time, we believe by the same Facebook page.

Our sources from UltraCrocs whom was following the Crocs friendly games also told us that Roberts actually rubbished the claims and was visibly upset when asked if there was any truth about it, and we can understand why.

Sarawak is on the verge of playing in the most exclusive Cup in Malaysia, and the results from the recent friendly matches indicate the Crocs need to work harder to match their opponents in the competition.

Reports from our UltraCrocs friends also tells us that some players have been rather complacent during these vital friendlies, with some regulars already showing signs they are mentally not prepared to take their more elusive opponents.

This means that any negative rumor, no matter how small, could jeopardize the team spirit and plans arrange for the Malaysia Cup campaign.

In fact, the rumor of Roberts leaving next season will definitely have an impact towards the team because the players will definitely be unsettle with the fact that a new coach may come in, and probably have a huge impact on their carriers. Footballers play football for a living, and it is only right for them to be worried for their jobs.

Which brings us to this point: We know our Sarawak fans are very passionate about their football, as liken Alberts to the likes of legendary Alan Vest. Some of course get over excited and start making wild allegations which include many things from player transfer to sponsorship.

However, many do not see the impact of these rumours which could unsettle players, the team, the management and mare, and hence why such posting is not only irresponsible, but also dangerous for the wellbeing of the team we all support.

With that said, we hope no more rumors would emerge about the departure of Roberts, and if he really does get the job, then let it be known after the Malaysia Cup campaign is over.

For now, let us all hope “Sarawak Encang sampei Champion!”
