SARAWAK and Sime Darby are only two wins away from promotion to the Super League as they continued to pull away from the rest of the pack with vital Premier League wins yesterday.
A 3-1 victory over Police in Malacca kept Sarawak a point ahead of Sime Darby, who returned to winning ways after Friday’s 1-0 loss to the leaders by beating Betaria 2-0 in Selayang.
With third-placed Johor dropping points for a second match in a row when they drew 1-1 with Pos Malaysia at Pasir Gudang, the top two teams inched closer to a cherished spot in the top-flight with five rounds to go.
After a goalless first half, Azizan Baba opened the scoring for Sarawak in the 49th minute at the Hang Jebat Stadium, only for Edrisar Kaye to level from the penalty spot four minutes later when Hairol Mokhtar handled in the area.
But two late goals by Bobby Gonzales (79th) and Muamer Selibasic (81st) ensured Sarawak returned to Kuching with three precious points.
