Sarawak’s latest foreign striker Ryan Griffith feels that the ruling by Football Association of Malaysia (FAM) which banned him from joining 2013 Premier League Champions, Sarawak as early as January 2014 as ‘silly’.
In an interview with FourFourTwo, Ryan was quoted as saying that “I think the rule is silly,” as he adds that his CV shows that he has played at some big clubs and scored a lot of goals at those clubs. Ryan further adds that FAM needs to reassess the rule and have a look at which competitions players aren’t allowed to come from and not simply at which tier of football a player is in.
Nonetheless, the former Adelaide United striker admitted that he was happy that he finally was able to move to Sarawak while adding that his contract with Adelaide United had ‘certain terms which allowed him to come to Malaysia’.
Ryan also admitted that he did some research over the team (Sarawak), and his elder brother, Adam Griffith was a huge factor he decided to try out playing in the Malaysian league.
Ryan is expected to play against Selangor on March 25th after the transfer window opens on March 23rd.
