Preview: Kedah FA vs Sarawak FA

If this was a radio show on ERA FM, this up coming match would be called ‘the battle of the chicken brands’, but fortunately this is Sarawak Crocs, and we don’t call lower tier teams by names, nor do we mock them, well, except when Sarawak does defeat them =P

Sarawak looks strong to continue their campaign in the Malaysia Cup with a win and they have statistics backing their effort. However Kedah FA would be no pushovers after the team managed to hold both the Lions XII and Perak FA in their previous matches.

In this game, Robert Alberts is expected to give special attention towards Alan Guc (photo) whom has been lethal for his side of late.

Aside from that, Khyril Muhymeen and Baddrol Bakhtiar does pose some threat towards the Crocs with Akhmal Rizal ready to spring some surprises when needed.

The defense of the Canaries has been reported to be shaky in our review of the team, but the last two matches showed that Datuk Ahmad Shafie has improved it with both Perak and Lions XII failing to score more than they wanted.

The Crocs on the other hand may start without influential Guy Bwele whom is reported to be injured during the game against Lions XII.

His absence however will be filled by captain Sharol Saperi, with Zamri Morshidi and Joseph Kallang taking the flanks.

Junior Eldstal will most probably also start at his favorite position as the engine room furnish the attacking force of Bobby Gonzales and Muamer Salibasic.

At the backline, Sarawak looks set to retain their back four although concentration among them is one huge worry with opposing strikers often able to snatch a late goal as the game progressed.

Despite Bwele’s probable absence, the Crocs look strong enough to win this game with master tactician Roberts at the drawing board for his team.

The winner of this game will have a better chance to advance to the next stage of the quarter-finals and leave the pack behind as Lions XII and Perak FA are expected to cancel each other out.
