The Crocs have themselves to kick when they failed to capitalize on numerous good chances which could have turned the tables at Stadium Negeri tonight.
Playing in front of a near capacity crowd, the Crocs showed much urgency to kill JDT’s intention to reign supreme in the Super League this season.
Crosses via Rashid Aya and S Chanturu inside the box looked more than promising in the early minutes of the game, but lack of quality finishing, left JDT smiling all the way through the final whistle.
In fact, Sarawak dominated the game most of the time with JDT finding the Crocs more difficult to crack then they initially thought.
Luciano Figueroa was a constant threat for the Crocs back line but Hairol Mokhtar, Ronny Harun, Ramesh Lai and Mafry Balang proved too much for the Argentinian as he found himself making wild shots on goal which were either way off the target, or directed to Sani Anuar.
In the second half, Sarawak pushed harder for the first goal of the game and the inclusion of Ashri Chuchu almost made it happen.
A long ball from the middle saw Ashri beat the offside trap, but his poor control on ball saw the goalkeeper smoother the ball away from his feet.
And then came the winning goal which emerged from a beautiful pass made by Luciano, which was calmly finished off by Jorge Pereyra Díaz.
The goal stunned Sarawak for a moment, but the Crocs never gave up their attack and searched for the equalizer.
In the dying minutes of the game, Sarawak got a penalty kick request turned down, prompting Sarawak players to protest to the man in charge.
Their protest was however futile as the referee soon blew the final whistle, hence confirming JDT was the new champions of the Malaysia Super League for 2014.
