Sarawak have the slimmest of chances to go to the next stage of the Malaysia Cup quarter finals after they were defeated yet again by a last minute goal at Stadium Darul Aman tonight.
The game which was well balanced after the start saw both team playing carefully on the wet pitch with each teams trying their best to secure an early goal.
In the 2oth minute, S Chanturu delighted his mates when he shot in Ryan Griffith’s through pass to put the visiting team ahead.
Kedah replied with a near goal from Billy Mahmet, but his shot was just inches from target.
Just before half time, both Kedah and Sarawak had to play with ten men after the referee decided both Junior Eldstal and Shafizan were wrong for arguing in the pitch.
The restart of the game saw Kedah making an immediate tactical change, but it soon worked with Billy cancelling Sarawak’s one goal advantage with a powerful strike.
Kedah powered more attacking efforts to find the winning goal but the defence line of Sarawak which was led by Gabor Gyepes stood tall denying every effort made.
In the 80th minute, the defence of Sarawak took its biggest blow when Gabor received his second yellow card, leaving the Crocs with nine men.
Kedah used their numerical advantage to enhance their attacking force with striker Khyril Muhymeen introduced into the ten men home side.
Countless attacks were poured onto the Sarawak defences, with Stadium Darul Aman finally roaring of approval when Syazwan Tajuddin headed in Kedah’s winning goal just before the final whistle.
The defeat meant that the Crocs now have a near impossible mission to advance to the next round of the Malaysia Cup as two difficult games against Perak and Terengganu await them next with a victory for any team in Group B in the next fixture sealing Sarawak’s fate in the tournament.
