The rumours were heard last year, and now, the idea of having a second team from Sarawak has resurfaced with more details being released, or at least conceptualized.
The team, shall it materialize, would be based in the northern part of Sarawak and they would represent Miri, the second largest city in Sarawak.
It was also said that this new team, if it becomes a reality, would start playing at the FAM League, which is considered the entry league to any team wanting to play in the Malaysian League.
Support for the idea of having two teams from Sarawak has gained plenty of momentum since the rumour started, with Sarawak Sports Minister Datuk Lee Kim Shin, recently also putting his backing.
On social media, reactions have been mixed, but many, especially those in Miri are very keen on the idea. For us at SarawakCrocs.com, the idea is indeed good, but proper planning must be made before any money is spent on the project. When all planning has been made to perfection, only then can we hope to see perhaps a team with the nick name ‘Miri Oilers’ become a reality.
