Liverpool trash Southampton in Capital One Cup Q-Finals

Liverpool spared no mercy last night as they trashed Southampton 1-6 in the Capital One Cup, played at Southampton.

The Reds, a side much revived after the appointment of Jurgen Klopp, saw them play catch up in the first few minutes of the game with Bertrand sending a delicious cross into the box with Mane burying it with a lovely header past helpless Mene.

Liverpool replied in the 25th minute with Allen sending an exquisite, first time pass from the halfway line, giving Sturridge enough room to fire a shot past Stekelenburg into the far corner for the equalizer.

Sturridge then put Liverpool in the lead four minute later, but Origi ensured Liverpool leave the pitch comfortable with a goal just before the half time whistle.

After the breather, Origi picked up where he left off with another stunning goal in the 68th minute by hitting the ball from 20 yards right into the top of the net.

Substitute Ibe than hurt Southampton even more with the fifth goal for Liverpool.

As the game went into the last ten minutes, Origi ensured he left Southampton with a hat-trick, sending home Liverpool’s sixth goal of the match.
