Sarawak FA now sits at the relegation zone, but the points separating them from some five other teams is minimal, hence making it possible for the Crocs to achieve this years target, which is to remain in the Liga Super for 2018, and finish in a mid-table position, if possible.
With Kelantan FA and T-Team both being ducked points for salary issues, the Crocs have a real chance to go to the mid table if they can gain full points in the next three matches which feature teams like Perak FA, Kelantan FA, and Felda United, all teams that are separated with not more than five points in the Liga Super from Sarawak FA.
While calls for David Usop to resign grow, the Football Association of Sarawak (FAS) is likely to stick to the local head coach as numbers show that he is within reaching his Key Performance Index (KPI) for the season. David’s tactical play has also showed promise despite the results, with some stadium going fans saying that luck played a huge role in the poor results.
Aside from that, it is also an open secret that FAS is on a tight budget this season, and would prefer to focus on improving facilities for youth football development.
FAS as many know, is looking to create an all Sarawakian team in the future, and they can only do so by grooming young local talents from now.
Nonetheless, with Sarawak FA fans eager for instant success, the position of David as head coach remains in jeopardy as FAS do tend to bow to fan pressure, with some fan pages now claiming that “a team’s success depends on the conductor”, hinting they are not happy with David’s performance as a head coach.
Either way, David’s next three games would be vital for him to prove himself and a small portion of fans are still hopeful that the Crocs can turn their luck around soon.
