JDT were at their own class yesterday when they trashed Indian representative East Bengal 4-1 at Stadium Tan Sri Hassan Yunos, Larkin.
Despite playing without import Jorge Pereira Diaz and Luciano Figueroa, the Southern Tigers played with confidence through the match with Mohd Nazrin Mohd Nawi slotting in a free kick from outside the box.
East Bengal equalized in the 34th minute through Soleye Ranti Martins, but Safiq Rahim netted a penalty for JDT four minutes later.
In the second half, S Chanturu added his team’s advantage over East Bengal in the 47th minute with national player Safee Salee nailing it for the home side with a powerful sciccors kick in the 53rd minute.
JDT will travel to Singapura next to meet Belestier Khalsa on March 10 before going to Hong kong to meet Kitchee on 18 March to continue their Group F AFC Cup challenge.
