2023 Liga Super champions, Johor Darul Ta’zim FC (JDT) were today fined RM120,000 by the Football Association of Malaysia (FAM).
According to FAM, the fine was due to their fans burning flares on three Liga Malaysia 2023 matches at their home ground, the Sultan Ibrahim Stadium.
The statement by FAM stated that JDT had been informed of the fine through writing on 31st May 2023, but the association had not made the fine be known publicly until today.
The breakdown of the fine is as follows;
- Fans burning flares on 31 Mac 2023: RM10,000
- Failure to fulfil obligation related to flares on 31 Mac 2023: RM10,000
- Fans burning flares on 9 April 2023: RM10,000
- Failure to fulfil obligation related to flares on 9 April 2023: RM10,000
- Fans burning flares on 14 April 2023: RM10,000
- Failure to fulfil obligation related to flares on 14 April2023: RM10,000
In the statement, FAM reminded the public that burning of flares goes against the FAM Code of Conduct, and FAM had always taken action for such offences.
FAM also stated that it had become a norm for the association to not publish make media statements in regards to such fines onces it had been decided.
