Football Association of Sarawak (FAS) have long established its integrity committee, says honorary secretary Abdullah Juhaihi.
“So it is not true the statement by Football Association of Malaysia (FAM) that we have not set up one.
“We were just quiet about it (statement) because we did not want to have a public debate with FAM.
“Some of the things, we do behind the scenes without being highlighted in the media,” said Abdullah.
Youth and Sports Minister Khairy Jamaluddin wants all state associations to set up an integrity committee to combat bribery and match-fixing.
FAM secretary-general Datuk Hamidin Mohd Amin revealed that only three out of 20 affiliates — Johor, Penang and Sarawak — did not set up their integrity committees last year.
The purpose of the committee, comprising two affiliates and a representative each from the police and the state anti-corruption commission, is to look into match-fixing allegations.
The committee is the first avenue for players and officials to provide information about bribery and match-fixing.
