KUCHING: Despite an early scare in the first half, it was still business as usual for the Crocs who defeated KL SPA Putrajaya FC 2 – 1 in their Premier League match played at State Stadium, Petra Jaya last night.
The visitors led the Crocs 1 – 0 before the breather when Joel Armel Tchami had an easy one in the 42 minute.
Earlier on, both teams played cautiously and the waiting game was capitalised by KL SPA Putrajaya FC three minutes before the referee blow the whistle.
The Crocs almost drew first blood in the 20 minute through a free kick just outside the visitors’ penalty box was given after Zamri Morshidi was fouled but Muamer Salibasic curling shot went wide.
Another fine attempt was made by Ronny Harun 11 minutes later but KL SPA Putrajaya FC’s goalkeeper, Mohd Soffuan was in his element and denied the homesters the first goal of the match.
The second half saw the rejuvenated Crocs going for the kill and almost got the equaliser in the seven minutes of the game through Hairol Mokhtar but it was disallowed after the referee suspected KL SPA Putrajaya FC’s goalkeeper was fouled.
Guy Bwele became the toast of his team after he scored the equaliser in the 56 minute with a superb free kick just outside the six yard box.
Bobby Gonzales sealed the visitors’ doom in the 69 minute after he headed the winner thanks to the overhead cross by Junior Eldstal.
The Crocs almost increased their score line in the 76 minute when Muamer’s hit on target after connecting a pass from Ramesh Lai.
The fans who were jittery after the early scare in the first half were simply overwhelmed with their heroes’ comeback and bag yet another full points in their quest to cement the return to the Super League next season.
