Group D leaders Sarawak are determined to make the quarter-finals of the Malaysia Cup.
Having beaten Lions XII 2-1 at home on Aug 24, coach Robert Alberts is keeping his fingers crossed that lightning does strike twice when the two sides meet in Singapore next Tuesday.
“We want to go straight into the quarter-finals with a win in the next match against Lions XII.
“I’m not saying it will be easy but really, there is no secret (to success) in football.
“I’ve given the players the motivation,” said Alberts.
“We are not even thinking of only one point. Our main objective is to win and score goals as goals could be the deciding factor if all three teams (Perak, Lions XII and Sarawak) are level on points.”
He said he was satisfied with the 4-0 win over Kedah, which gave them a superior goal difference in the group.
“I’m also confident. I’m not like other coaches who instil fear in their players before they meet Lions XII at Stadium Jalan Besar, where no teams have ever won there yet this season.”
Alberts added that the Crocs had prepared for the encounter by training on artificial turf in Kuala Lumpur.
The pitch at Stadium Jalan Besar is FIFA 2 Star Recommended artificial turf.
