KUCHING: Sarawak play PDRM away today knowing fully well that they need to play like they did against Sime Darby FC last Friday.
Speaking to The Borneo Post during a training session at Stadium Negeri yesterday, head coach Robert Alberts felt that the encounter against PDRM could be a tricky one.
“PDRM has quality in their side and we could risk playing like we did against SPA Putrajaya FC previously (the match before the clash with Sime Darby FC) in the first half of that particular match,” he said.
Alberts, however, is confident that Sarawak can produce the desired result provided that the players play according to expectations.
With five more games to go after today’s match, he wants the team to take it one match at a time.
“Although we must put all our focus on the next match, we also need to remind ourselves about our long term plans as well, which is Super League promotion. It is important that we keep that in mind,” he added.
With Sarawak now on top of the Premier League, he pointed out that it is important that Sarawak keep their points difference and distance as much as possible from the any team lying in third place on the league standings.
Sime Darby FC, now trailing Sarawak by only one point, will face NS Betaria FC in Selayang.
Joseph Kalang will not start tonight as he is still nursing his injuries sustained during the previous match against Sime Darby FC.
Striker Muamer Salibasic might also be rested for tonight’s clash as he has a minor hamstring injury.
“We are still monitoring Salibasic’s situation and I can only know who starts tomorrow (today) before the match,” said Alberts.
The match against PDRM at Stadium Hang Jebat kicks off 4.45pm.
