Clash of the royals in FAM League

The entry of new teams in the lowest tier of the Malaysian League, the FAM League is getting interesting.

According to Wikipedia, there are 17 teams in the league, with two of the 17 linked heavily to royalty, while another three are teams of huge corporation, such as Air Asia, MISC and Felcra.

While it is not a secret that JDT III is owned by the Crown Prince of Johor, the entry of Real Mulia FC, owned by Tengku Fahd Muā€™adzam Shah, son of the Sultan of Pahang, to the FAM League for 2015 is indeed interesting.

The Pahang based team has hired some of the best staff in the nation to help them gain promotion to the Premier League as former national coach, K Rajagopal stars as their advisor, with award winning Yunus Alif hand picked to be the team’s coach. Yunus Alif is a big deal in Malaysian football having brought Pahang FA to win the league in 1995.

Aside from Rajagopal and Yunus, former Australian international Alistair Edwards has also been appointed to be the technical director for Real Mulia FC, with several household players such as Syamsuri Mustafa, Mohd. Hazrul Shah Abdul Hakim, Muhd. Badrulhisani Abdul Rahman, and Shahril Faizal Sharifuddin listed in the squad.

Although Pahang based, Real Mulia FC will play their games at the UKM Stadium in Selangor, sharing the venue with varsity side UKM FC.

It will be interesting to see both JDT III and Real Mulia FC go head to head, but if Real Mulia does indeed have deep pockets like JDT, we can expect an exciting year for the club.
