KUCHING: Sarawak’s intention of acquiring the services of Bosnian Muamer Silabasic came to a stall due to technicalities of the International Transfer Certificate (ITC) of the player.According to Football Association of Sarawak (FAS) president, Datu Sudarsono Osman, they intended to sign Muamer as his game suited the team’s style of play.
“We want Muamer to play for Sarawak but his former club refused to release his transfer letter and thus we cannot proceed with the negotiations,” said Sudarsono without giving further details.According to Sudarsono, all players’ transfer must have the transfer release letter from their former clubs before they can sign for a new club. When asked if the FAS has other options before the transfer windows closed this April 22, the FAS president said that they are still looking for capable players that can gel with the Sarawak players.
“We are eyeing for strikers and if they fit the bill, surely we will negotiate terms,” he added. It was reported that three strikers, a Nigerian, Obi Iileechukwu Carlos, 29 Haiti’s Fabrice Noel, 28 and a former Sabah striker who won the Golden Boot in the 2007 season came for the trials yesterday and the FAS selectors are still evaluating their performances. In a different issue, Sudarsono said that his players had laid rest the sad episode of being shown the exit by Kelantan in the FA Cup tournament.
“We are now totally focussed on the Premier League games and I hope that the players will be mentally and physically prepared for the remaining matches,” he concluded.Meanwhile, coach Robert Alberts said that Sarawak will take on Perlis at the State Stadium tomorrow night without utility player, Guy Bwele, who is on a two-match suspension.
“We will be without Bwele against Perlis but Mafry Balang and Azizan Baba will play,” said Alberts when contacted yesterday.“Bwele is on a two-match suspension as he has collected six yellows but his absence will not affect much as we have able replacements,” he added.Sarawak were depleted of Mafry Balang and Azizan Baba against Kelantan in the FA Cup second leg quarterfinals match and with these two players back in the squad, Alberts can now assemble a strong team to face Perlis tomorrow night.
